I have eaten at a lot of restaurants in my time. I rate them as sub par, exceptional, superior, and World-class. This Restaurant is definitely a World-class. Excellent staff. Sharron was our waitress and you can tell that she was trained well. You can also tell that she enjoys what she does. Even the owner made himself available to snap pictures and give a warm welcome. I only found out later that George was the owner by a staff member. Another staff member who's name escapes me, was very hospitable as well. This place was recommended to me and so I can only do the same. High end sushi, with some of the best Wagu Ribeye Steak Ive had in a long time. I Highly recommend this place.

Amazing experience! 5 start from when we welcomed by the host, taken to our table by our waiter and other waiters at the door. Yoh!this was the worst experience we had last night at fire room castle gate.first waiter was all over the show and not attending to us and when asked he told us about been a busy afternoon and he has too many tables he was servicing.Then 2nd waiter tried to help but as well he would disappear ,then third person come naye a disaster and funny how they probably thought maybe will only tip less because they were attending to white and prominent people (saw ex minister).Then chef come doing walk around the table and we told him about our dissatisfaction he just said he will fix it but like others he also disappeared.Time to pay bill our initial waiter didn’t even come to us,he send someone. Having been there three times already with no issues,yesterday was so disappointing and there is no accountability as well managers there are useless. I’ve never felt this unvalued before as a customer.😭

I had the absolute pleasure of celebrating my birthday at FireRoom Bedfordview, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. A very special thank you to Luyanda, who truly made my celebration memorable. She was warm, friendly, and incredibly attentive from the moment she assisted me. She explained the menu thoroughly and went above and beyond by recommending perfect wine pairings for each meal, which elevated the entire experience. She was also so thoughtful and patient, allowing me the time and space to capture beautiful content throughout — something I really appreciated. The ambiance of the restaurant is stunning — elegant, vibrant, and perfect for celebrating special occasions. From the moment I arrived, the welcoming atmosphere was evident, and the reception staff set the tone with such kindness and professionalism. Every staff member I encountered was genuinely friendly and attentive. Thank you to the entire team for making my birthday celebration so special and memorable. Upon arrival the lady at the entrance was not bothered by my presence. Went on about with her colleague like I was invisible, eventually when she allocated me a seat it took a long while for a waiter to come to me. The wait between my my starter, drinks and main meal was a, long while. All the whike this is on a, Sunday afternoon and it was not busy at all. The state of the bathroom was disgusting. I had to inform my waiter about the situation. The bathroom had not been cleaned, nor toilet paper and paper towels. The food and drinks absolutely delicious but it was the long wait that really dampened the mood.

I would have given a negative star on service, but option not available. I generally enjoy dining in SA restaurants but this is by far the worse service I have ever received. I’ll come back and rate the meal but service is negative 10 at best.

Now, the food… absolutely outstanding. The prawn poke bowl was fresh, vibrant, and perfectly balanced. The prawns were cooked beautifully, paired with crisp shredded veggies, creamy avocado, and a rich, flavourful sauce that brought everything together. Every bite felt clean, yet indulgent — a real standout dish. And then the highlight for me — the chicken mayo pizza. I’ve tried chicken mayo pizzas all over Gauteng, and this is hands down the best I’ve ever had. The base was perfectly baked with that ideal balance of crisp and soft, the toppings were generous, and the creamy mayo combined with the chicken created an incredible flavour that just worked on every level. Absolute perfection. The atmosphere also adds to the experience — stylish, vibrant, and perfect for both a relaxed meal or a special occasion. The drinks were just as impressive, fresh and beautifully presented. Yes, it sits on the higher end price-wise, but it is 100% worth it for the quality of food, service, and overall experience. Highly recommended. I’ll definitely be back.

We went to Fireroom to celebrate my husband and cousin's birthdays last night and I was honestly underwhelmed and quite disappointed. My husband and I have been to the restaurant numerous times and always enjoyed the food and the service, so we took our family there as they are not from Jhb. The restaurant has always been popular and busy, and because of food quality, we always waited a bit to receive our food. Last night it took over an hour to get our food, and 2 people at our table didn't get the food with the rest and had to wait another 20mins (this for calamari and a burger). The sushi we ordered didn't taste as fresh as it usually does (was a bit dry as well) - again we've been here before, so we know what to expect, and then 5 people at our table ordered steaks, only 2 were "flamed". When we asked why, we were told the restaurant is busy so they couldn't do everyone's steaks the same way. So personally my steak was dry, and the lamb chops were overcooked. So now I ask, if we are paying your asking price for our meals, we are expecting a certain level of consistency, especially because you market yourself as the "Fireroom". Finally, when we arrived, we were asked what the special occasion was, and we said we had 2 birthdays, but by the end of our meals, we were just ready to leave, so we asked for the bill, and our waitress then asked aren't we going to wait for the birthday ice-cream, to which we replied, we don't want it anymore, we just wanted to leave to have dessert elsewhere.... We still ended up waiting half an hour for our bill because she insisted on bringing the ice-cream even though we said we no longer wanted it. I understand you guys are busy and the restaurant has expanded quite a bit since the very first time we visited, but if you can't maintain your quality of food and level of service, what is the point?

Good Evening, To whom it may concern. My family and I have just returned home from a very disappointing trip to your establishment. It is our birthday (my sister and I, we are twins) and we chose your restaurant to have our birthday dinner. The worst mistake we ever made. To cut a long story short, we ordered chips, the chips arrived cold and unfresh. We complained to our waiter Mitchell, who went back and returned with a hot plate of fresh chips. We wondered why we initially got cold chips in the 1st place, but we left it at that and went on to order our mains - The kingclip Termidore, a meal that cost almost R400 a plate. The meal arrived ( which was brought to us by the manager - Wesley). Mind you, this same manager had come to welcome us when we arrived and even joked and laughed with my sons. The meal arrived on a plate that was very hot but the fish which was covered with cheese was cold inside and mushy. The veggies as well was lukewarm. I have had kingclip fish numerous times before so I know what kingclip looks and tastes like. This was certainly not Kingclip. We then asked to see the manager, to complain about our experience so far, Wesley bluntly refused to come to us. He went everywhere else but to us. Instead he sent a black lady who was also a manager as well to come and attend to us. So Wesley (a white guy) who came to greet and joked with us when we arrived is suddenly treating us like a nobody!!! So it's okay to pay good money but be given cold food?? And your arrogant and rude manager Wesley thinks that we do not deserve to be heard?? He told his colleague he sent to us, to offer us free dessert, really??? What a joker! You can receive compliments but cannot handle complaints? If he had only come to see us, and maybe apologised for our experience (which is what is expected of him as a manager by the way) we would have left feeling a bit better, but he treated us like we were nothing, he ruined our birthday all together. We paid almost R3000 tonight for the worst experience my family and I have ever had in South Africa as a whole, and to think that it came from such a prestige establishment is highly disappointing. I hope someone gives this complaint the urgency and seriousness it deserves otherwise I will be contacting your head office and posting on every SM page there is, because this is simply not on. Thank you.

The service is painstakingly slow. It’s almost as though every time you ask one of the waiters for something it’s a mission and a half just to get it done. The workers are unserious during hours and can often be seen laughing with one another and standing idle almost as though they do not have tables that may need tending to. The food (specifically the oxtail) on the same note took unnecessarily long and when delivered tasted lukewarm and almost as though its had just been reheated in a microwave. The atmosphere was alright and so was the sushi but I am very disappointed with the quality of service. Absolutely lax ,lazy and I will not be dinning here again in future!

Not what i expected. The waiter wasn't patient and kind i felt so unwelcome the food was kinda bad…i just wouldnt refer anyone for celebrating their special day there… and yes it is very much expensive for what you end up getting also i noted certain people were prioritised over others.
